This project was initiated in partnership with the …Ontario Trillium Foundation and continues through partnership with the …Ministry of Health Promotion.
In 2007, a number of Markham Sport Council members and Community Sport Leaders participated on an Advisory Committee to develop a made in Markham, Club Development Program (CDP) – a first of its kind initiative in Canada. The CDP was developed based on input from Sport Clubs, a review of our sport community needs, surveys and in direct consultation with participants in our sport community.
Who should participate?
Our programs and courses are open to all coaches, administrators, volunteers, parents, teachers and athletes of the Sport Community whether or not you are a member of the Markham Sport Council.
CDP Programming:
- …CDP Matrix: showcasing distinguishing features & benefits of your Sport Club to the public.
- …CDP Training: Certified coaching / safety programs, volunteer training / funding workshops.
- …Expert Resources & Templates: for capacity building and quality assurance programming.
- …Respect in Sport: free on-line training course for coaches and parents designed to assist coaches in identifying and dealing with abuse, neglect, harassment, and bullying in sport.
*Discounts (up to 25%**) are available to each participant from a Sport Club that is a Markham Sport Council member.
